SAUSAGE SAUCE FOR PASTA 
1 lb. Italian sausage
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves minced garlic
1 (28 oz.) can crushed Italian tomatoes
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 (6 oz.) can water
1 tsp. basil or 1 tbsp. fresh basil
Pinch of salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. oregano
8 oz. sliced mushrooms, optional
1 green pepper, sliced (optional)

You can substitute large can of tomato puree. Put sausage in baking pan at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove sausage and cut into serving size pieces. Using fat from sausages, saute onions, garlic until opaque. Add tomatoes and all other ingredients. Simmer uncovered for 2 hours.

Serve over your favorite pasta. For a group I use mostaccioli, rigatoni. Easier to serve.
