OLD-FASHIONED APPLE CRISP 
BASE:

4 c. peeled apple slices (about 5 medium apples)
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1 tbsp. All-Purpose flour
2 tsp. lemon juice

TOPPING:

1 c. quick or old fashioned oats, uncooked
1/4 c. All-Purpose flour
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 c. butter, melted

For base: In 8 inch square baking dish or shallow 1 1/2 quart casserole, combine apples, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and 2 teaspoons lemon juice; mix well.

For topping: Heat oven to 375 degrees. Combine oats, 1/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup brown sugar, salt and cinnamon; mix well. Add butter; mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over base.

Bake about 30 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Serve with sweetened whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
