1 c. butter
1/2 c. xxx sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. crushed peppermint candy
1/2 c. xxx sugar
2 tbsp. cream cheese
1 tsp. milk
1 drop red food coloring (optional)

Cream butter and sugar. Gradually add flour and nuts. Mix thoroughly and chill. Make filling by combining candy and sugar. Blend cream cheese and milk and add to candy. Add food coloring.

Shape cold dough into balls. Make a deep hole in center of each and fill with about 1/4 teaspoon of filling. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. (Don't let brown.)
