BEEF STROGANOFF 
1 lb. sirloin, cut in sm. strips
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
3 tbsp. flour
1 1/4 tsp. salt and pepper
1 tsp. paprika
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 can consomme
1/2 c. cherry wine
1/2 c. water
2 sm. cans mushrooms
1/2 c. sour cream

Roll meat in a mixture of flour, salt, pepper and paprika. Brown in shortening in heavy pan, add onions, rest of flour mixture, consomme, garlic, mushrooms, water and wine. Cover and cook slowly until meat is tender, 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Just before serving add sour cream. Serve over wide egg noodles.
