MJARRA 
4 c. boiling water
1 c. lentils
1 c. white rice
1/2 c. soy sauce
1/2 c. olive oil
4-6 tbsp. basil
4 cloves garlic
1 tsp. cayenne
1/8 - 1/4 tsp. cumin

To boiling water add all seasonings, then beans and rice. Bring to a roaring boil; cover. Continue a slow simmer for 1 hour. Can add sliced olives, chopped tomatoes or yogurt after cooking.
