BELGIAN BEEF CASSEROLE 
3 lbs. round steak, cut in cubes
2 med. onions, sliced
6 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. hot water
1 c. beer
2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. oregano
1 1/2 tsp. vinegar

Brown meat in 2 tablespoons butter; transfer to casserole dish. Add 2 tablespoons butter and onions. Fry until golden. Add to beef. Add the last 2 tablespoons butter. Stir in flour and spice mixture. (Add more butter if necessary as this mixture will be dry.) Stir until brown. Add beer, water and vinegar. Pour over meat and onions. Bake 2 hours at 350 degrees. Serve over hot buttered noodles.
