“HOT BUTTERED CIDER” IS IN:
NEXT RECIPE:  HOT SPICED EGG NOG

HOT BUTTERED CIDER 
7 c. apple juice or cider
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. whole cloves
1 tsp. whole allspice
4-inch stick whole cinnamon
Zest of 1 lemon
1 1/2 c. dark rum
Butter

Stir apple juice/cider and brown sugar together in a large saucepan.

In a piece of cheesecloth bundle up cloves, allspice, cinnamon and zest. Drop spice bag into liquid and bring all to a good simmer. Continue simmering for another 15 minutes, then remove from heat and remove spice bag. Stir in rum and pour into mugs. Add a dab of butter to the top of each serving.

Serve immediately.

Makes 10 servings.
