1 lb. ground beef 1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes 1 (16 oz.) can blackeyed peas 1 med. onion 1 (8 oz.) can tomato puree 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 pkg. corn bread mix 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce 1/2 c. grated cheese Brown ground beef, add tomatoes, blackeyed peas, onion, salt and pepper; mix well. Pour into baking dish, mix cornbread according to directions then pour mixture over ground meat and bake in moderate oven 30 minutes or until corn bread is done. Serve piping hot. |
