1 gallon cucumbers 4 or 5 onions 1/2 c. salt Ice cubes 4 c. sugar 1 tsp. turmeric 1 tsp. ground cloves 1 tsp. celery seed 2 tbsp. mustard seed 4 c. vinegar Slice thin 1 gallon cucumbers with 4 or 5 onions. Put in pan with 1/2 cup salt on top. Cover with ice cubes. Let set for 3 or 4 hours. Put sugar, turmeric, cloves, celery and mustard seeds, and vinegar in a large pot. Drain cucumbers and add to vinegar mixture. Bring to rolling boil. Fill jars and seal. |
