LEKVAR AND NUT CAKE 
Prepare:

1. 1 pound (lekvar) and 1 cup sugar; mix well.

2. 2 cups ground walnuts, mix in 1 grated lemon peel and 1 cup sugar. (Set aside 1/2 cup of nut mixture for topping.) Add 2-3 tablespoons milk to the rest of nuts.

3. On pastry board: 3 tsp. baking powder 1/2 lb. sweet butter 1 c. sugar 1 level tsp. salt

Rub together (with hands) on board.

4. Add to above: 1 pt. sour cream

Work together (with hands) on board.

5. Put into 3 portions.

6. Roll 1 portion and place in 9 x 13 inch oblong pan. Spread lekvar evenly on layer.

7. Roll 2nd portion and place in pan. Spread nut mixture on layer.

8. Roll 3rd portion and place in pan.

9. Beat egg whites until stiff. Brush on top of cake.

10. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of nut mixture that was set aside.

11. Bake in 325 degree oven for 3/4 of an hour.

12. When cool, cut in diamond shaped pieces.
