CHOCOLATE SYRUP CAKE 
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 can Hershey's chocolate syrup

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Add syrup. Sift flour and baking powder together. Add to other mixture and mix with electric mixer until smooth, about 2 minutes on medium speed. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove and add topping while cake is still warm.

TOPPING:

1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk

Mix ingredients together in saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat for 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Mixture will be thin. Pour over cake. Refrigerate.

This cake is best baked and served in the same oblong cake pan.
