APPLESAUCE CAKE WITH ORANGE
FROSTING
 
1 c. soft butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 1/2 c. applesauce
4 c. self-rising flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, beat until fluffy. Sift together all dry ingredients. Mix alternately with applesauce to the butter and sugar mixture. Mix thoroughly and pour into a well-greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.

FROSTING:

1 c. confectioners' sugar
1/4 c. melted butter
2 tbsp. orange juice
2 tbsp. grated orange rind

Mix together all ingredients and frost cake while warm.
