STRAWBERRY JAM CAKE | |
2 c. sugar 1 c. shortening 3 egg yolks, beaten 1 c. strawberry jam 1 c. buttermilk 3 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt Cream together shortening and sugar thoroughly. Add beaten egg yolks. Combine well. Add strawberry jam and beat well. Sift flour, measure and add cinnamon, soda and salt. Sift together. Add flour and 1 cup buttermilk alternately, mixing well after each addition. Fold in 3 stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into three 9 inch greased cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees about 30 minutes and remove from pans. Frost when cool. |
