FIG LAYER CAKE 
1/3 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. milk
1/2 c. finely chopped figs
1 1/2 c. flour
1/3 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder

Beat the butter and sugar until creamy. Add the beaten egg and milk, then the figs. Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder and add dry mixture to fig mixture.

Bake in layers about 20 minutes and fill with fig filling.

FIG FILLING:

1 lb. figs
1 c. water
4 level tbsp. sugar
Juice of 1 lemon

Put the figs through the medium cutter of a meat chopper. Add the water and sugar to chopped figs and cook until they form a thick pulp.

Add lemon juice and beat well. When cool, spread between layers of cake.
