CREAMY FROSTING 
2 tbsp. cake flour
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 to 3/4 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix flour and milk, cook to thick paste over a slow flame. Cool; cream sugar with shortening and butter, beating until light and fluffy. Blend in salt. Mix in cooled paste and vanilla, beat. Spread on cooled cake. Frosts a 9 x 13 cake. This frosting is not so sweet and sugary as many are.
