STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE 
1 qt. frozen strawberries
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
2 tbsp. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. milk

Slice strawberries into a bowl. Sprinkle with 1 cup sugar and let stand about 1 hour. Heat oven to 450 degrees. Measure flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking soda and salt into bowl. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture looks like meal. Stir in milk just until blended. Pat dough into a greased 8 x 1 1/2 inch pan. Bake 15 to 20 minutes. Split layer crosswise while hot and spread with butter. Fill and top with the sweetened berries. Serve warm. Top with light cream. 6 to 8 servings.
