BLACK WALNUT YUM YUMS 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 1/2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 c. light brown sugar
1 c. chopped black walnuts

Cream butter; add white sugar gradually. Cream well; add well beaten egg yolks and vanilla. Sift flour twice, add baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Spread cake mixture 1/3 inch deep in greased pan.

Fold brown sugar into stiffly beaten egg whites. Add walnuts and spread over cake mixture. Bake at 350 to 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool; cut into squares or strips. Yield: 20 squares.
