BRAIDED ONION BREAD
1 pkg. yeast
1 c. sour cream
1 env. onion soup mix
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. water
6-7 c. flour
Sesame seeds

Sprinkle yeast over 1/4 cup warm water. In another bowl combine sour cream, soup mix, baking soda, sugar, salt, butter, beaten eggs and water. Stir in softened yeast until mixture is smooth. Gradually add enough flour to make a stiff dough (6 1/2 to 6 3/4 cups). Knead well.

Place in well greased bowl and turn once to bring greased side up. Cover with towel and let rise in a warm place until it doubles. Punch down and divide into 6 strips each about 15 inches long. Braid 3 strips together sealing ends.

Place loaves on cookie sheet and let rise until doubled. Brush with 1 beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Bake at 350°F until golden brown.
