FARFEL OR MATZOH FARFEL -
PASSOVER
 
1 pkg. farfel
2 1/2 c. boiling water
1/4 c. diced peppers
1/4 c. mushrooms, chopped
1 stick butter
2 tbsp. chicken bouillon
1/4 c. onions, chopped

Saute matzoh in butter until lightly brown. Add hot water. Add vegetables. Simmer 20 minutes.

The reason for Don Vineburg's comment is that it is not kosher to mix meat and milk. If you substitute Kosher for Passover oleo (margarine), it is essential to be sure that the margarine is labelled Pareve because many margarines contain dairy.

Another alternative is to use Pareve chicken flavor bouillon powder which does not really contain chicken but just tastes like chicken. In this case butter or Kosher for Passover dairy margarine may be used because it is not mixed with meat.

Pareve means that the food contains neither dairy nor meat/chicken ingredients.
