BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
5 qts. sliced thin cucumbers
8 sm. onions
1 bell pepper
1 red bell pepper
1/2 c. salt

Put all of the above on cracked ice for 3 hours or a little less.

SYRUP:

5 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. cloves
5 tbsp. white or yellow mustard seeds
4 c. mild vinegar
1 c. water

Bring all of the above to a boil. Drain pickles and put in a jar. Pour hot syrup over pickles and seal. Only 3 hours.
