2 lbs. beef cubes 1 1/4 c. Burgundy wine 2 (10 1/2 oz.) cans of consomme 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 lg. onion, sliced 1/2 c. fine bread crumbs 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. garlic salt Combine beef, 1 cup of wine, consomme, salt, pepper, and onion. Mix flour with bread crumbs; stir into meat. Put in heavy casserole covered; cook at 300 degrees for 3 hours. Stir in remaining wine. Do not check at all during 3 hours. I usually put all ingredients, besides meat, in blender, then pour it all over. Makes a smoother gravy, I think. Serve over rice, noodles, or toast points. |
