ANGEL BISCUITS | |
5 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 3/4 c. shortening or oil 2 c. buttermilk or sour milk 3 tbsp. sugar or honey 1 cake yeast or 1 1/2 tbsp. dry yeast 1/2 c. warm water Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Add buttermilk. Add yeast dissolved in water (if using honey, dissolve with yeast and water). Mix until all flour is moist. Cover bowl and put in the refrigerator until ready to use as needed. This dough will keep in the refrigerator for days. When ready to use you may need to work in a little flour to make dough soft and workable. Roll out on floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness. Make biscuits. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes. |
