1 lb. phyllo (Omega Brand) 1 lb. butter, melt slow and draw salt (do this by putting a paper towel over the melted butter) 1 lb. walnuts 1/2 lb. almonds 1/4 c. sugar 1 tbsp. cinnamon Grind these very fine, if any chunks grind again. Add sugar and cinnamon to nuts. In large pan, lay 6 sheets phyllo, butter the top, then begin layering phyllo, butter and nut mixture. (I usually put 2 layers of phyllo.) When nuts are all gone, put 4-5 layers of phyllo, one at a time, layering butter between each layer. Cut in diamond squares and insert whole cloves in top of each square. Bake 1/2 hour at 375 degrees, 1/2 hour at 350 degrees. 4 c. sugar 2 c. water 1/2 c. clear honey 1 stick cinnamon 1 slice lemon Bring to boil; let cool. Pour over hot pastry. |
