FROSTED BANANA COOKIES 
1 c. shortening, part butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. mashed ripe bananas
1/2 c. buttermilk (or 1 tbsp. lemon juice or vinegar to milk to make 1 c.)
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts

1. Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.

2. Add remaining ingredients slowly; drop on preheated cookie sheet, bake at 375 degrees and let cool before frosting. Makes about 3 dozen.

FROSTING:

1/3 c. soft butter
3 c. powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. milk
