CINNAMON APPLESAUCE SALAD | |
3/4 c. red cinnamon candies 1 (6 oz.) pkg. lemon gelatin 2 c. sweet applesauce 2 (3 oz.) cream cheese, softened to room temp. 1/3 c. mayonnaise 1/2 c. pecans, chopped 1/2 c. celery, (opt.) Melt candy in 1 cup hot water, stirring over low heat 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add gelatin, stir until dissolved. Stir in applesauce. Pour 1/2 of gelatin mixture into an 8 inch square pan (2 to 3 inches deep). Chill until firm, letting remainder of gelatin stand at room temperature. Beat cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth. Fold in nuts and celery. When mixture is firm, spread cream cheese on top. Pour remaining gelatin over cream cheese. Chill until firm. Serves 8. |
