S.'S BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1/2 lb. (2 sticks) butter (sweet), softened
1 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 c. unbleached flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. raisins

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream butter and both sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well. Sift together dry ingredients and stir into creamed mixture, blending thoroughly. Add chips and raisins. Drop by rounded teaspoons on greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven while centers are still soft. Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet before transferring to a rack. Makes about 80 cookies.
