APPLE BREAD 
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. allspice
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. Grape Nuts
1 c. fine chopped apples, peeled
1/2 c. chopped nuts
2 eggs, well beaten
2/3 c. milk
2 tbsp. molasses
1/4 c. shortening, melted and cooled

Measure flour; sift with baking powder, salt and spices into mixing bowl. Stir in brown sugar, cereal, apples and nuts.

Combine eggs, milk, molasses and shortening. Add egg mixture to flour mixture, blending just until all flour is dampened. Pour into a well-greased 8x4x3-inch loaf pan.

Bake in moderate (350 degree) oven 60-65 minutes. Cool 10 minutes; turn out on rack. When cool, wrap in foil or wax paper.
