ANGEL BISCUIT 
2 pkgs. yeast
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. warm water
5 c. self-rising flour
3/4 c. vegetable shortening

Mix yeast, water and sugar together. Add shortening to flour and soda. Mix all together by mixer or by hand. This makes a sponge that can be kept in the refrigerator for two or three meals. To make biscuits, add enough flour so dough may be handled. Roll out and cut as biscuits 1/4 inch thick. Bake at 475 to 500 degrees for 10 minutes. Brush with butter before or after baking. I bake at 475 degrees.
