APPLE FRITTERS 
1 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
5 or 6 tart apples or 1 3/4 c. applesauce

Mix and sift flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add milk and well-beaten egg. Mix well. Pare and core apples. Cut in sections or slices. Dip in batter and fry in deep hot Crisco until brown. Drain on unglazed paper and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

SUBSTITUTIONS: Banana, pineapple, peach, apricot or oranges.
