NETTIE'S PIE CRUST | |
1 crust (7 or 8 inch) For 1 crust use 1 cup flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/3 cup shortening and 1 or 2 tablespoons water. 2 crust (7 or 8 inch pans) For 2 crust use 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup shortening and 2 or 3 tablespoons cold water. Sift flour and salt (cut in shortening - lumps size of small peas). Sprinkle cold water, tablespoon at a time, toss together, water enough to moisten dough. Make a ball and let set 15 to 20 minutes. Flour board lightly, roll out 1/8 inch thick and when rolling out - make a circle 1 1/2 inches larger than pan. Bake in 450 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. I usually do (2 crusts - 9 inch) - use 2 cups flour, 1 1/4 teaspoon salt, 2/3 cup shortening and 3 or 4 tablespoons cold water. |
