HILLBILLY CORNBREAD | |
You will not taste the applesauce or the dried minced onion. The applesauce keeps the bread moist... the dried onion - gives it a little ummph! that you cannot figure out - but do enjoy. 1 cup yellow cornmeal 1 tsp. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 cup applesauce (keeps bread moist) 1 egg 1 1/4 cups buttermilk few shakes dried minced onion butter to grease baking dish Grease an 8-inch square baking dish - or - cast iron skillet with butter. Mix all other ingredients. (will seem too wet - but is not). Pour into greased dish or skillet. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes. Submitted by: Phyllis Chittum |
