GRANDMA'S CHOCOLATE ICING 
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar (less for flat cake)
3 tbsp. cocoa
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or Crisco
1 1/2 tsp. instant coffee

Mix confectioners' sugar and cocoa in a bowl together. Boil water and use a very small amount to dissolve the instant coffee. Heat up the butter so it's melted. Add melted butter to sugar mixture. Add dissolved instant coffee. Mix well.

Note: I would recommend to put the icing right on the cake because it will harden and it will be just sugar chocolate in the bowl and it will be very difficult to apply to the cake.
