CHERRY COOKIES 
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1/3 c. white sugar
Dash of salt
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 egg
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 sm. jar maraschino cherries, cut up
2 tbsp. cherry juice
2 c. flour
1/2 c. nuts (opt.)

Mix all ingredients together and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown. Use remaining cherry juice for powdered sugar frosting. Frost cooled cookies.
