SWEDISH RYE BREAD 
2 pt. warm milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. dark molasses
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
4 c. rye flour
2 env. dry yeast
Orange peel
Optional: Caraway, fennel or anise seed

Mix the first 6 ingredients and add the remaining ingredients. Add sufficient white flour to make dough a stiff consistency and knead for about 10 minutes. Let rise in a warm pan or crock until double in bulk. Place in greased loaf pans and let rise for 1 hour. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Makes 4 large loaves.
