This recipe is prepared in 3 steps, but its really easy as it all goes into the same 9 inch pan. It makes a pudding-cake like a chocolate cake with hot fudge sauce that is superb served warm with vanilla ice cream. It's also a good kid recipe because it can all be prepared by hand and it always gets rave reviews from the recipients.

Step 1: In a small bowl mix together the following with a fork or whisk, then spread it in a lightly greased 9 inch pan:

1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cocoa
2 tbsp. melted butter
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Step 2: In a small bowl mix well 3/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa. Sprinkle this evenly over the batter in the pan.

Step 3: Slowly pour over the 2 layers in the pan 1 3/4 cups of hot water. Then carefully place the pan in a 350 degree oven and cook for 45 minutes. Decrease oven temperature slightly if you use a glass pan.
