CHEESE AND BEEF SANDWICHES 
2 med. onions, sliced
2 tbsp. butter
6 hoagie or frankfurter buns, split and toasted
1 1/2 lbs. thinly sliced roast beef
1 1/2 c. shredded Provolone or Mozzarella cheese
Italian salad dressing
Shredded lettuce
Chopped tomatoes

Cook and stir onion slices in butter until tender, about 10 minutes. Set oven control to boil and/or 550 degrees. Place bottom halves of buns on ungreased cookie sheet; top with cooked onions and roast beef. Sprinkle about 1/4 cup cheese over beef and onions.

Broil with top 5 to 6 inches from heat just until cheese is melted, 2 to 3 minutes. Top each with remaining bun half. Drizzle with salad dressing and serve with shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes, if desired.
