SWEET FRUIT LOAF 
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. lukewarm water (110-115 degrees)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. lukewarm water
1 egg, beaten
1/4 c. shortening, melted
2 c. plus 2 tbsp. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 c. fruit mix (candied)

Soften yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water; add the next 4 ingredients and beat well. Add shortening, flour, and nutmeg; beat well. Fold in fruit mix; let rise until double in bulk.

Punch down and place in a greased loaf pan. Let rise until double in bulk. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
