NUTMEG CAKE WITH BROILED
FROSTING
 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk

FROSTING INGREDIENTS:

3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. coconut
1/2 c. nutmeats
3 tbsp. butter
Cream to moisten

Cream shortening and sugar and add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each. Sift together dry ingredients, and add alternately with buttermilk and vanilla.

Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes in 9 x 12 or 10 x 13 inch pan.

Mix frosting ingredients, and spread on top of cake. Place under broiler and brown. Watch carefully.
