MANDARIN SALAD 
1/4 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. vinegar
1/4 c. salad oil
Dash of Tabasco sauce
1 tbsp. fresh snipped parsley

Combine dressing ingredients. Shake together in tightly covered container and refrigerate. Cook together 1/2 cup slivered almonds and 2 tablespoons sugar over low hat, stirring constantly until sugar melts and coats the almonds. Cool and break apart.

Tear about 4-5 cups of lettuce and combine in plastic bag with 1/2 cup chopped celery. Refrigerate. Just before serving, add 1 (11 ounce) can drained mandarin oranges, dressing, and almonds to bag and shake.
