STRAWBERRY FIG PRESERVES 
6 c. sugar
6 c. ground or mashed figs
2 lg. pkgs. strawberry Jello
1/2 c. water

Pour all ingredients into large pot. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook over a low heat for approximately 1 hour or until thick. Pack in hot sterile jars and seal. Process in water bath for 15 minutes.

Variations: Pears may be substituted for figs. To prepare, peel and boil pears until tender. Use in same way as figs.
