DATE NUT BREAD 
3/4 c. hot water
3/4 c. chopped dates
1 tsp. instant coffee
1 egg
2/3 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. melted butter
1 1/3 c. flour
1 dash salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Pour hot water over chopped dates. Add 1 teaspoon of instant coffee to water. Let stand 20 minutes. Beat egg; add sugar and melted butter and beat well. Strain water from dates and add the water to the egg mixture.

Sift flour, salt and soda into mixture. Add nuts, dates and vanilla. Mix. Pour into loaf pans. Bake 1 hour at 325 degrees.
