DATE NUT CAKE 
1 qt. broken pecan pieces
1 lb. chopped dates
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
4 eggs
1 stick butter
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Pinch salt
Pinch soda

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one at a time. Add 1/2 cup flour with salt, soda and baking powder. Add vanilla. Flour dates and pecans with other 1/2 cup flour, and add to mixture. Bake 2 1/2 hours at 250 degrees. Use loaf pan.
