DATE PINWHEELS 
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
3 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream sugar and shortening; add well beaten eggs. Sift dry ingredients and add to first mixture. Divide in half and roll 1/4 inch thick. Spread filling on dough and roll into loaf. Refrigerate until solid. Cook 7-10 minutes at 350 degrees.

FILLING:

1 pkg. dates (1 lb.)
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. water
1/4 tsp. salt
