CREAM WAFERS 
1 c. butter, softened
1/3 c. cream
2 c. flour, sifted
Granulated sugar

Mix 1 cup butter, cream and flour. Roll dough about 1/2 inch thick; cut with 1/2 inch cutter. Work with 1/3 at a time while keeping rest chilled. Or roll into long rolls about 1 inch across and slice off in approximately 1/8-inch rounds.

Transfer rounds to waxed paper heavily coated with granulated sugar; turn and coat both sides. Place on ungreased baking sheet; prick 4 times with fork. Bake at 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes. Do not brown. Let cool.

FILLING:

1/4 c. butter, softened
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla
Red and-or green coloring (optional)

Blend 1/4 cup soft butter, egg yolk and vanilla. Put two wafers together with filling in center. For the holidays, tint filling red and/or green.
