SPICE BREAD IN A JAR 
1 c. shortening
2 2/3 c. sugar
2 c. applesauce
2/3 c. water
4 eggs
3 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. raisins

Preheat oven to 325°F. Spray 7 wide mouth pint jars with nonstick cooking spray.

Cream shortening and sugar in mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Stir in applesauce, water and eggs. Add mixture of flour, soda, baking powder, salt and spices. Mix well. Stir in walnuts and raisins.

Fill jars 2/3 full. Place on middle rack with 6-inches between jars.

Bake exactly 45 minutes. Remove jars 1 at a time and seal quickly with 2 piece lid, pressing bread down if necessary. Cool.

Yield: 7 small loaves.
