FRENCH TOAST CASSEROLE 
1 (10 oz.) French loaf
8 lg. eggs
3 c. milk
4 tsp. granulated sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. butter, cut in pieces

Use extra butter to grease a 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Cut bread into inch-thick slices and arrange in pan. Beat eggs with remaining ingredients except butter. Pour over bread and cover tightly. Place in refrigerator overnight. To bake at 350 degrees - remove cover, dot with 2 tablespoons butter and place in cold oven and bake for 45-50 minutes - until bread is puffy and lightly browned. Serve with - syrup, honey, yogurt, or sour cream and fresh fruit. Left overs are delicious, too!
