FAVORITE APPLE PIE | |
3 tbsp. plus 1 tsp. unsifted all-purpose flour 3/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 stick unsalted butter 3 lbs. apples for pie (Cortland, Rome, Jonathan) 1 tbsp. milk Frozen or homemade pie crusts Put unbaked crust in oven. Prick bottom and sides first. Place another pie plate inside it and weigh it down with pie weights. Bake at 425 degrees for 5-7 minutes to set bottom crust. Remove immediately. Place 1 teaspoon of flour in bottom of crust. Mix dry ingredients. Add to peeled and not-too-thinly sliced apples. Place top crust on and slice air vents in it. Brush with milk and sprinkle with a little sugar. Bake 425 degrees for 1 hour. The Best! |
