PORK CHOPS AND APPLES | |
6 pork chops, 1 inch thick 1 1/2 tsp. sage 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 lb. carrots 2 c. onions, chopped 1 lb. tart cooking apples, pared and quartered 1/4 c. brown sugar Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Wipe pork chops with damp paper towel. On wax paper, combine sage, salt and pepper. Dip both sides of pork chops in seasoning. Slice carrots 1/2 inch thick. Layer in 3-quart casserole. To with half of onions. Then add chops. Sprinkle with remaining seasoning. Cover chops with remaining onions. Arrange apple quarters over top. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake covered at 350 degrees for 2 1/2 hours. Remove cover and baste with pan juices. Bake 30 minutes longer, until tender. Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes before serving. |
