“MAGGIE'S BISCUITS” IS IN:

MAGGIE'S BISCUITS
2 cups self-rising flour (White Lily)
1 1/2 tbsp. lard
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 475°F (hot).

Sift flour and salt into a large bowl. Cut in lard with fork or pastry cutter until it is the size of peas.

Make a hole in center of mix. Pour buttermilk in the middle and stir from the inside toward outside of bowl till it all forms a ball, then knead dough no more than four times.

Dump dough onto lightly floured surface. Roll till it is 1/2-inch thick. Using a 1-inch biscuit cutter cut out biscuits and place them on ungreased baking sheet. Make sure to place them touching so the sides don't get tough.

Bake at 475°F for about 10 minutes, checking after 8 minutes.

Note: Baking time will vary depending on your oven (some ovens don't go that high).
