QUICK YEAST BREAD | |
1 pkg. dry yeast 1 1/4 c. warm (not hot) water 2 tbsp. shortening 1 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. sugar 3 c. straight flour Place all ingredients except 1 1/2 cups flour in large mixing bowl. Mix on low to medium speed until batter is smooth, then stir in remaining flour. Set in warm place. Allow to rise 30 minutes. Stir down and beat 25 strokes with spoon. Pour into 1 large well buttered pan. Let rise until double in bulk, then bake at 425 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from oven. Butter top and place on rack to cool. |
